Big Big Train, the international prog rock institution, released their 16th studio album, »Woodcut«, via InsideOut Music on February 6, 2026. »Woodcut« is the band’s first concept album, one continuous story exploring creativity, sacrifice and the thin line between inspiration and madness.

On February 7, 2026, the band did an acoustic session at RamJam Records studio in Brighton, UK, as a trio: Alberto Bravin (vocals, piano), Clare Lindley (violin, backing vocals) and Gregory Spawton (12-string guitar). That session also gave us a performance of the new single Chimaera, which sits on the just-released album “Woodcut” and comes with a video (below). Rob Aubrey handled the audio mix, and the video was shot by Andrew Wild.

The album’s singles are also available below: Counting Stars, The Artist and The Sharpest Blade.

On »Woodcut«, all seven members of the band chipped in to deliver an outstanding result, with frontman Alberto Bravin taking the lead as producer: »Woodcut is a huge step forward for us,“ says Bravin. With more than 400 separate recordings that had to be sifted through and edited, streamlined and pieced together, and with the motifs needing to be adapted to fit the concept’s themes and the cohesion of the album’s story, making this record was an especially big challenge for Big Big Train.

The album is available as a limited edition on CD and Blu-ray, including an extensive essay and Dolby Atmos and 5.1 Surround Sound mixes by Shawn Dealey at Sweetwater Studios. It also comes as a 180g 2LP with a special embossed sleeve, as a standard CD jewelcase, and in digital format (in stereo and Dolby Atmos versions).
