Atrophy, cult legends of American thrash metal, are coming to Zagreb on 11/16/2026 for a show at the Hard Place club!

Atrophy, formed way back in 1987, have put out three studio albums, and the first two – “Socialized Hate” and “Violent by Nature” – are considered true classics of the American thrash metal scene. Even though commercially they’re often lumped into the “second tier” of thrash giants, in terms of quality they’re not lagging behind the genre’s biggest names, not by a long shot.

Brian Zimmerman, the only remaining founding and original member, made sure that “Asylum”, the album marking the band’s return to the scene, is way more than just a worthy successor to those first two cult releases. Even though more than 34 years have passed since the last album, Zimmerman still sounds fantastic, and the guitars are even more intense – full of melodies, harmonies and technical polish. In short, “Asylum” is one of the best thrash metal ‘comeback’ albums in recent years!

As special guests, groove metallers Confess will play before Atrophy. The band was originally formed in Tehran, Iran, and is now based in Oslo, Norway. Confess are known for their aggressive groove metal sound, and they also spread their name through the documentary “Into the Void: Life, Death & Heavy Metal” on Hulu.

The night will be kicked off by Rijeka thrash metallers Hefest, formed in 2024!

Are we looking at the thrash metal show of the year? Very likely!
