There simply aren’t enough superlatives to capture what the iconic Deep Purple have given to rock music. With more than 100 million albums sold and stadiums and arenas packed all over the world for decades, it’s no wonder the band’s influence is so highly rated. They picked up the “Legend Award” at the World Music Awards in 2008 and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2016. Deep Purple are the real “kings of rock”, and they still rule. With a body of work spanning seven decades, Deep Purple helped pave the way for and define hard rock, while steadily pushing into new territory, keeping their sound fresh and winning over new fans alongside the legions who have stuck with them since day one. The famous MKII lineup of Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, Ian Paice, Jon Lord and Ritchie Blackmore created a string of groundbreaking rock albums in the early 70s, including “Made In Japan”, considered one of the most important and influential live albums of all time.

Deep Purple are also regarded as one of the hardest-working bands ever. Since forming in 1968 they’ve kept putting out chart-topping albums with barely a break, and they’ve been on the road all over the world non-stop. In the last 10 years alone, the band has sold more than 2 million albums, and their last four studio albums hit number one in Germany four times in a row (all of them also landed top positions across Europe), which is an impressive reminder that the British legends are still at the forefront of the international rock scene in the new millennium. In 2022 came the sad news that Steve Morse was leaving the band due to personal circumstances. Deep Purple then leaned on the guitar chops of Irish guitarist Simon McBride and closed out the year in style, wowing crowds with fresh energy and zeal. In 2024 Deep Purple stormed back to the top of the charts, as their latest studio album “=1” hit number one in three countries. It’s the band’s first album with Simon McBride, and it keeps up the momentum from a run of successful albums: “Whoosh!” (2020), “InFinite” (2017) and “NOW What?!” (2013). For the fifth time in a row (including the pandemic covers album “Turning To Crime”), Deep Purple teamed up with legendary producer Bob Ezrin for “=1”. The album was met with a wave of enthusiasm, bringing back the classic sound of these pioneers without leaning on nostalgia. Its enigmatic title, =1, stands for the idea that in a world getting ever more complicated, everything eventually boils down to one single, unified essence, meaning that everything is equal.

With the release of “=1”, Deep Purple headed out on a new world tour in 2024, pushing ticket sales past 1 million since 2022. That cemented their status as one of the busiest rock acts out there, playing stadiums and halls alike. Deep Purple have stayed true to their musical roots, turning an eclectic mix of styles into a sound all their own that defines the band in a unique way, and they’ve built a legacy that very few could ever match. They’re the authors of a heap of “classic” rock anthems that stay evergreen all over the world, whatever the generation!

This year the band crowned their unstoppable, unbreakable run with yet another outstanding new studio album, “SPLAT!”, which further consolidated the new lineup and sent Deep Purple off on a new global concert odyssey.
