Kajagoogoo, one of the central British new wave, pop and art rock acts of the 1980s, are getting an eight-CD box set on 11/27/2026 called “Box Of Goo, The Complete Anthology”. The box will be released by Cherry Pop.

Kajagoogoo signed with EMI Records in July 1982. Nick Rhodes, keyboardist of the New Romantic sensations Duran Duran, teamed up with Colin Thurston, Duran Duran’s producer at the time, to co-produce Kajagoogoo’s first single, Too Shy. The single came out on January 10, 1983 and shot to the top of the UK singles chart. The follow-ups Ooh To Be Ah and Hang On Now also landed in the UK top 20, and the band’s debut album “White Feathers” hit number 5 on the UK albums chart.

The sudden success also fed growing tensions within the band, which peaked when charismatic vocalist Limahl (born David Hamill) left and bassist Nick Beggs took over as lead singer. Kajagoogoo became a foursome, and their next single, Big Apple, came out in September 1983 and made the UK top ten. The singles The Lion’s Mouth and Turn Your Back On Me followed, and then the new album “Islands”.

In the US, the band went by the name Kaja for the first time during this period, and “Islands” was released there as “Extra Play”. The new box set pulls together the band’s first three albums, plus everything that came out after they left Warner, along with a heap of remixes, B-sides and instrumental versions.

The complete material has been freshly remixed by Tony Dixon.
