After last year’s well-received second studio album Propaganda and a seriously busy year of gigs, Posavje punk outfit Krshkopoljac are back with a new single, Koga K.. It’s a track that marks a major creative departure from everything they’ve done so far, as the band go full ballad for the first time.
The new songs started taking shape after a short creative break at the end of last year, when the band locked themselves back in the rehearsal room. The ideas piled up fast enough for a new recording session, and for production they once again turned to Peter Penko, who they’d already worked with on previous projects.
Alongside the song, they’re also dropping a music video directed by their longtime friend Miloš Radosavljević. The video was shot in a single take and, through a symbolic story, follows one person’s inner battles as they face their own dark thoughts. Singer Domen Majcen stars in the lead role, and his wife Maša plays an important part in the story too.
Guitar, bass, backing vocals: Tomi Gregel
Drums, backing vocals: Frenk Les
Vocals: Domen Majcen
Production: Peter Penko and Krshkopoljac
Master: Torul Torulsson
The single Koga K came about spontaneously while the band were jamming on an acoustic guitar, then grew into a full-blooded band track. Musically it’s a different beast from their earlier work, but lyrically it stays true to the directness, honesty and raw edge that the band are known for.
On the recording, Tomi Gregel played all the guitars and bass, Frenk Les handled the drums, and the lyrics and lead vocals are the work of Domen Majcen.
