The Dear Hunter, the American prog rockers, have announced that their new studio album “Sunya” is coming out on March 20.

Check out the first single and video from the album, The Glass Desert I – Giants, below.

“Sunya” is already available to pre-order.

“Sunya” picks up the path The Dear Hunter started carving out on 2022’s “Antimai,” leaning into synthetic textures and tightly interwoven rhythms that draw on jazz, funk and prog rock. The vision is still ambitious, but this time it’s seen from a different angle.

While “Antimai” told the story of a city’s collective voice, “Sunya” delivers a personal confession.

“‘Sunya’ is our most ambitious project yet,” the band says, adding: “There’s a lot of funk and jazz-fusion influence in these songs. But it still sounds like a proper The Dear Hunter album. Lyrically we dig into a lot of dystopian themes, while piling on plenty of synthetic layers. That creates contrast and adds something special.”

The album was written by The Dear Hunter, with lyrics by Casey Crescenzo. String and woodwind arrangements were contributed by Casey Crescenzo and Brain Adam McCune.

The album was produced by Casey Crescenzo and mixed by Mike Watts at Vudu studio. Mastering was handled by Frank Mitaritonna, also at Vudu.

Engineering was done by Casey Crescenzo, Nick Crescenzo, Aiden Early, Robert Parr, Nick Sollecito, Max Tousseau and Frank Mitaritonna. It was recorded at Cave & Canary and Vudu studios.

The cover art was designed and created by Casey Crescenzo.
