Angel Reissue “Helluva Band” for Its 50th Anniversary!
Angel, the legendary white-satin glam rockers, are getting a reissue of their second studio album “Helluva Band” to mark 50 years since its original release in 1976. The folks at Deko Entertainment had the idea and are putting the album out again in all formats.
Deko Entertainment did a similar reissue of the debut “Angel”, which originally came out in 1975.

Angel, a band that stood out with their bombast and look (the members were decked out in white satin) and a groundbreaking blend of glam rock, hard rock, and progressive rock, plus their pompous live shows, is still considered one of the more colorful rock bands of the mid-70s and early 80s. The band was discovered by Kiss bassist Gene Simmons, who helped them take their breakthrough steps. So in 1975 Angel put out their self-titled debut album, which leaned closer to prog rock than glam pop. It clearly reflects the sound that also shaped the band’s later albums, like the glam pop-leaning “On Earth as It Is in Heaven” (1977) and “Sinful (1979)”. Both came out after “Helluva Band”, which kept the direction of the debut. In their golden era, Angel released five studio albums and one live album. They split in 1981.
In 2019 they came back together with original members Punky Meadows (guitar) and Frank DiMino (vocals). The rest of the new Angel lineup was filled out by Danny Farrow, Steve E. Ojane, Billy Orrico, and Charlie Calv. Back in action, Angel released their studio album “Risen” in October of that year, followed in 2023 by the album “Once Upon A Time”.
