Zirkus Rosarius takes its name from a Luftwaffe operation during World War II. It was a special unit of that name, set up in 1943 under the command of Theodor Rosarius, that captured Allied aircraft, repainted them in German camouflage, and tested them systematically. The goal was to uncover the enemy planes’ weaknesses – in other words, their weak spots. That data was then used to train Luftwaffe pilots in the German Reich.
