Paraf Close the Book on Their Acclaimed Album “Paraf” with the Single “Kraj”
Exactly one year after the release of their self-titled studio album, Paraf are presenting “Kraj,” the final single from the record, wrapping up its rollout. The new track rounds off an album that delivers the band’s unmistakable, uncompromising take on a social reality marked by injustice, war and division.
“Kraj” carries on the creative path along which Paraf have been calling out what’s going on around them for five decades now – no sugarcoating, no dodging the uncomfortable questions, no backing down from where they stand. The song speaks straight to the times we live in and asks whether we as a civilization have reached the very edge of existence, and whether we still trust each other or have shut ourselves away in our own little worlds.
As Pavica Čabrijan puts it:
“Exactly one year ago, Paraf released their self-titled album, and now it’s time to close out its rollout with a fitting track called KRAJ.
All the themes on this record keep circling around what weighs on us – injustice, war, division … Paraf have never kept quiet; instead they’ve drawn inspiration from all of it and responded, both through their music and through their lyrics.
KRAJ is no different – without beating around the bush or playing dumb, it sounds a warning while asking whether we as a civilization have reached the very edge of existence. Do we still trust each other, or has each of us turned inward into our own little world?
Paraf don’t offer answers, but they don’t bury their heads in the sand either. And they never, never, never give up hope.”
With the release of the single “Kraj,” Paraf bring the story of the album Paraf, to a close – the band’s first studio release since their cult 1984 album Zastave. The self-titled record brings together different eras and lineups of the band and proves that their songwriting is still firmly tied to a critical look at society and the times it’s born in.
The album Paraf was produced by Matej Zec, and the recording sessions featured Alen Tibljaš, Zdravko Čabrijan, Deni Šesnić, Raul Varljen, Vlado Simcich Vava, Iva Močibob, Slobodan Bobo Grujičić and Pave Čabrijan.
“Kraj” puts the final period on the album’s rollout, but not on the questions Paraf have been asking since day one. Even as they call out everything that divides and threatens us, they leave room for what can still bring us together – and for the hope they have no intention of giving up, no matter what.
The album Paraf is available on vinyl and on all digital platforms.
