Hrastnik, in the Zasavje region, turned into a real front line yesterday (March 15), with the still fairly unknown but excellent band Divje Rože playing for all the »soldiers of the rock nation.« San Di Ego took care of the big finale.
The night kicked off with Divje Rože, whose roots go back to 2006. After a few lineup changes, the band is now a five-piece with nine originals to its name. Over a solid hour on stage they played us eight of them, and the rest of the set was made up of old, timeless rock anthems like »Highway To Hell« and an interesting rock version of the Russian Katjuša. The hard-hitting five of Divje Rože are Jan Ostrožnik (vocals), Marko Funkl (drums), Nac Baumgartner (bass), Domen Klenovšek (guitar, backing vocals) and Patricija Žankar (keyboards). They wrapped up their set with Vražje oči.
Once those eyes had closed, the guys from San Di Ego marched onto the stage and delivered a great rest of the night. The “double ego” is made up of Sergej Škofljanec (vocals), Matic Ajdič (guitar), Jure Doles (drums) and Martin Rozman (bass). The band only recently celebrated its first anniversary, but it already has a handful of originals under its belt. Not long ago they shot a new video for the song Domina, in which the “femme fatale” role is played by Peter Lovšin’s daughter, Nejka Lovšin Zupanc. The band’s main mission, as they put it themselves, is spreading the holy gospel of rock to every corner of Slovenia, and they really tore up the Mladinski dom in Hrastnik. Besides their own material, they served up classic eighties rock that set off a proper wave of euphoria in the crowd.
