Yes, the British prog-rock icons, will mark the 50th anniversary of one of their most legendary shows on July 17 with the release of “Live At Roosevelt Stadium, Jersey City, 17 June 1976”.
This is the first official release of the live album, and it follows the announcement of the band’s new album “Aurora”, due out June 12 this year.
“Live At Roosevelt Stadium” on 2 CDs and 3 LPs is already available for pre-order
Below you can check out a live version of the classic Roundabout, taken from this legendary show!
On June 17, 1976, Yes, in their “Relayer” (1974) lineup, meaning Jon Anderson, Steve Howe, Chris Squire, Alan White and Patrick Moraz, played to a packed house at Roosevelt Stadium in Jersey City (New Jersey). The five-piece was recorded mid-tour during a live broadcast on New York radio station WNEW-FM. Even though this show has been one of the band’s most beloved bootlegs for decades, this is its first official release.
This document captures Yes at their creative peak, with the guys out on the “Solo Albums” tour. After the success of “Relayer” (1974), the band members spent the following year each putting out their own solo studio album. On the 1976 tour, they worked pieces from those albums into the live set. The core of this live document, though, is the epics The Gates Of Delirium and Ritual, keeping company with beloved masterpieces from Yes’s classic era: Siberian Khatru, Roundabout and Heart Of The Sunrise. The show closes with a cover of The Beatles’ I’m Down.
