Voyage 35 Tackle Porcupine Tree’s Original “The Nostalgia Factory”
Voyage 35, a new prog rock outfit fronted by two former Porcupine Tree members, Colin Edwin and John Wesley, will hit the road in September and play material from the early days of Porcupine Tree.
Below you can check out their adaptation of the Porcupine Tree original of The Nostalgia Factory. The track first appeared on the band’s 1992 debut album, “On The Sunday Of Life”, with lyrics by Alan Duffy, who was running the Acid Tapes label at the time and later Imaginary Records.
Bassist Colin Edwin and guitarist John Wesley teamed up to play older Porcupine Tree material live, stuff you haven’t heard all that often at Porcupine Tree shows in years, even though Wilson played a shortened version of Voyage 34 on his latest tour in support of “The Overview”.
Neither Edwin nor Wesley was part of the Porcupine Tree reactivation in 2021. Edwin held down the bass in Porcupine Tree from 1993 on, and even played the band’s very first gig at The Nag’s Head club (in High Wycombe). Wesley joined Porcupine Tree as a touring guitarist in 2002. Both musicians worked with Porcupine Tree right up until 2010, when Porcupine Tree went on hiatus.
