Swedish melodic death metal pioneers At The Gates have followed up the release of their new album “The Ghost Of A Future Dead”, out April 24 on Century Media Records, with yet another single, this time for the track In Dark Distortion. It comes with an official visualizer too.
The album follows its predecessor “The Nightmare Of Being” from 2021 and is dedicated to frontman Tomas Lindberg, who tragically passed away in September 2025.
“The Ghost Of A Future Dead” was recorded and mixed by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street studio in Örebro, Sweden, with artwork by Robert Samsonowitz (www.rbrt.org).
Here’s what At The Gates had to say about The Ghost Of A Future Dead:
“We’re proud to share the news of our eighth studio album, “The Ghost Of A Future Dead”. The album will be released on April 24, 2026, more than two years after it was finished in the studio.
As you all know, Tomas Lindberg passed away last year from complications during cancer treatment. Over the past few years we worked closely with Tomas, discussing and fine-tuning every detail so that nothing was left to chance.
In line with Tomas’s wishes – including the album title, the sound mix, the track order, the artwork and the overall presentation – “The Ghost Of A Future Dead” stays true to our vision. It combines the raw, wild energy and the strong, hard-hitting melodies that are the essence of At The Gates. This album is Tomas’s legacy.”
Below you’ll find the second single and video for the album track The Dissonant Void, which also comes with an animated official music video. The band previously announced the album with the single The Fever Mask.
