It’s probably not news anymore that things are happening at Druga pomoč now too! That’s on the street where you can still bump along over granite cobblestones. At the start of Šmartinska, that is. So close to the Valter ćevapi joint, or, say, relatively close to the Clinical Center in Ljubljana. These rock nights, conceived quite modestly to begin with, are of course tailored to the »oldies« who heavily populate the area around the venue. Tailored to the low tolerance threshold of worn-out organs of sound perception. So what’s on offer is a »stripped-down production«! The series of events is run by the venue’s staff in a tight partnership with the agency »Križarjenja – b2b« (www.križarjenja-b2b.com), which now also offers (overseas) packages that rockers will find exceptionally appealing, and which blew out its first candle on this very night. A year has passed since it was born.

Red District, a crew of four cheerful faces from the amusement park of rock ‘n’ roll in Slovenia, have been handed a similar job to the C4 crew at Orto bar. They’ve become the regular in-house fixture at Druga pomoč. So: the amount of drink the venue sells depends on you coming to their gigs too. The more of you show up, the better the place will hold up and thrive!

Enough “blowing up” of a few everyday facts. Red District serve up a strictly acoustic show, playing plenty of instantly recognizable standards, the kind that a creative body of great and ultimate musical talents launched onto the facade of planet Earth over the history of rock culture. And who are Red District? Grega Samar, currently considered one of the most respected studio guitarists in Slovenia, who’s been busy with fine filigree work on his own project Nočna ptica for a while now, then Vlado Pilja – the forever-adored »Lepi dasa«, saxophonist Kristjan Kalaba, and lately they’ve also been helped out by guitarist of the younger guard Matjaž Strehar.

This time the report is short and clipped, since the author caught only the last gasps of the evening at Druga pomoč. His flinty path led him there from Dvorni bar, where Hellcats were raving it up for the release of their studio debut »Divja pot« (RockLine report HERE). So he walked into Druga pomoč a little before eleven p.m. A prize draw was underway, and later his ears picked up the less important fact that the acoustic guitar was already slightly out of tune, but nobody else was bothered. The energy was right and utterly lovely. Positive. And that counts. According to the testimony of the visitors in question, Neisha, who’s just given birth to her new studio album »Za vesoljke in kavboje«, and Nermin Puškar also jumped on stage as special guests of Red District.

So Druga pomoč is a new spot where you can now regularly shower your spoiled rock ears with plenty of good music and fun. Red District’s next stop is announced at Druga pomoč for 07.11.2013. If your head is still in one piece and in its usual place by then, we’ll definitely see each other again!
