Amon Amarth, the cult Swedish melodic death metallers, are taking on a new approach to songwriting with their first acoustic excursion – a single called Upphaf.
The track strips away the fury of metal to get closer to the ancient magic of Norse epics. Conceived for gathering around the hearth, it features hypnotic melodies and seductive choral harmonies. The simple composition carries a solemnity, a whisper of Odin’s shadow.
This is a standalone single that sees Amon Amarth calm down for a moment, since the band says a new, utterly wild studio album will follow soon!
The Upphaf single was produced by Jacob Hansen and is already available through the Metal Blade Records website, as well as on all digital platforms.
The video for the single was directed by Pavel Trebukhin.
