Swedish melodic death metal pioneers At The Gates have announced their new album, “The Ghost Of A Future Dead”, which lands on April 24 via Century Media Records.
The album follows 2021’s “The Nightmare Of Being” and is dedicated to frontman Tomas Lindberg, who tragically passed away in September 2025.
“The Ghost Of A Future Dead” was recorded and mixed by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios in Örebro, Sweden, with the artwork handled by Robert Samsonowitz (www.rbrt.org).
Here’s what At The Gates had to say about The Ghost Of A Future Dead:
“We’re proud to share the news of our eighth studio album, “The Ghost Of A Future Dead”. The album will be released on April 24, 2026, more than two years after it was actually finished in the studio.
As you all know, Tomas Lindberg passed away last year from complications during cancer treatment. Over the past few years we worked closely with Tomas, discussing and fine-tuning every detail so that nothing was left to chance.
In line with Tomas’s wishes – including the album title, the sound mix, the track order, the artwork and the overall presentation – “The Ghost Of A Future Dead” stays true to our vision. It combines the wild energy and powerful, hard-hitting melodies that are the essence of At The Gates. This album is Tomas’s legacy.”
Below you can check out the second single and video from the album, The Dissonant Void. It comes with an animated official music video. The band previously announced the album with the single The Fever Mask.
