Blue Medusa unveil video and single “Checkmate”
Blue Medusa, a new band fronted by former Arch Enemy vocalist Alissa White-Gluz, have dropped their first original single, a pretty hard-hitting cut called Checkmate.
The new track, which came out yesterday, March 20, 2026, follows the official announcement in which Alissa formally launched the band on International Women’s Day, March 8 of this year!
Rounding out the lineup are guitarists Alyssa Day and Dani Sophia.
You can check out the new single below, along with its official music video, directed by Alissa White-Gluz and Vicente Cordero.
Last November 23, the very day Arch Enemy officially announced that Alissa was no longer the band’s singer, White-Gluz put out her first solo single, The Room Where She Died. She released it under the artist name Alissa. The music was written by Kamelot keyboardist Oliver Palotai, while White-Gluz recorded and wrote all the vocal parts for the track and handled its performance as well.
