Charlotte Wessels, the Dutch vocalist best known for her work with symphonic power metallers Delain, and their band The Obsession will release their second studio album, “Mute Swan Empire”, via Napalm Records on February 5, 2027.
It’s a concept album built around characters, with each of the fifteen tracks focusing on a different one. The album portrays an archetype at the end of the human era (the ‘Anthropocene’) and explores how different people react to the collapse of that era.
The album was produced by Charlotte and Joost van den Broek at Sandlane Recording Facilities, where it was also mixed. Besides Charlotte and The Obsession, Elianne Anemaat plays cello on several tracks, while Vikram Shankar contributed the orchestral arrangements and additional keyboard arrangements.
The band hits the road for a new European tour in early February 2027. They’ll also stop in Vienna on February 15, 2026!
