Double CD Compilation “RIJEKA – PARIS – TEXAS II” Is Coming
RIJEKA – PARIS – TEXAS II
The sequel to the cult compilation that defined Rijeka’s new wave scene, now on a double CD
The compilation “Rijeka – Paris – Teksas II” is the follow-up to the 1987 release of the same name, offering a look at today’s urban rock output from Rijeka and the surrounding coast. It’s a project that gathers a wide range of original voices in one place and puts the indie music scene in Rijeka and the Rijeka area on display.
The main launch of the release goes down on Friday, February 6, 2026, at the club Palach, where the compilation will also be presented live. On stage will be Chasing Nord, Band Callahan, Atmospheric and Lado Bartoniček, and the night is a chance for bands, listeners and the scene the compilation documents to come together.
The double disc packs in 40 tracks by 24 artists, released as a lavishly packaged double CD. The compilation is conceived as a document of a particular time and place – a collection of personal statements that together form a cross-section of the scene as it exists today: diverse, open across generations, stylistically all over the place, yet unmistakably itself.
In content and symbolism, the project ties back to the original compilation “Rijeka – Paris – Teksas” from 1987, which gave a key snapshot of Rijeka’s new wave output back then. It featured acts like Grč, Let 2, Let 3, Strukturne ptice, Idejni miri, Ogledala, Grad and Fit, and over time the release earned the status of a reference record for an entire era.
Music journalist Bojan Mušćet points to its long-term influence:
“Seven bands that began their discographies on this compilation went on to record dozens of albums. The fact that most of them are still active today shows how much it mattered as a starting point.”
Unlike the 1987 release, “Rijeka – Paris – Teksas II” brings together artists who already have established identities and discographies. The compilation doesn’t try to define the scene as unified or finished, but presents it as an open process where different styles and generations live side by side.
As Marinko Krmpotić writes:
“Rijeka has always had its own path in rock music – and still does. This release captures it without any need to simplify or sugarcoat.”
Artists on the compilation include: The Siids, The Black Room, Kraj programa, White on White, Chasing Nord, Mr. Lee & Ivane Sky, Turisti, Mandrili, Jonathan, One Possible Option, Ministranti, My Buddy Moose, Krešo i Kisele Kiše, Boris Štok, Luna Mea, The Random, Jonathan, Boris & The Batts, Band Callahan, My Buddy Moose, Maderfa N kerz feat. Suicide, Po Metra Crijeva, Mrave Brojim, C ansambel, Lado Bartoniček & Matilda Krudler, Atmospheric, each in their own way shaping the current face of Rijeka’s urban music.
“Rijeka – Paris – Teksas II” works above all as a sonic time capsule, a collection of recordings that reflects where the scene is right now, with no ambition for final verdicts or rankings. Its value lies in continuity, in linking past and present, and in the fact that it documents music being made right here, right now.
