Steve Riley, former drummer of L.A. Guns and W.A.S.P., passed away on October 24, 2023, at the age of 67.
Riley reportedly struggled with health problems in recent years. After a few weeks battling a severe case of pneumonia, he ended up in the hospital, where he passed away.
Riley played drums on the first four W.A.S.P. albums and toured with Blackie Lawless’ shock rockers between 1983 and 1987. During that stretch he also laid down drums on Keel’s 1985 album “The Right To Rock”.
After Blackie Lawless fired him from W.A.S.P., Riley hooked up with L. A. Guns and played drums on the band’s most commercially successful albums. Once the legal battles wrapped up, Riley started his own version of L. A. Guns. This September, the band dropped a new single, The Dark Horse, via Golden Robot Records, as they were gearing up for the release of their second studio album, which had been announced for next year.
