Mary Rose Return With a Fresh Original Single and Video, “Zbudi se”

Mary Rose, the grand old guard and trailblazers of Slovenian glam metal and hard rock, have dropped a new original track called Zbudi se, complete with an official music video. You can check out the video below.

Mary Rose recorded the new single with their new vocalist Miha Horvat, who stepped in a while back to replace Žanil Tataj Žak.

According to Mary Rose, Zbudi se isn’t just a song, it’s a sharp scream into the silence of our times. In a world where “the sky is changing” and reason is fading out, the legendary rockers are calling on us to finally open our eyes. The lyrics confront us with the reality of “the last few years” – a world that feels alien, wrong, and full of darkness. The song asks uncomfortable questions: Where were we when the world was changing? Did we fall asleep, or do we dare to stay awake? With their trademark hard rock energy and uncompromising lyrics, Mary Rose are telling us that silence screams the loudest. Don’t let your gaze toward eternity fade.

Production was handled by Eki Alilovski, Sandi Trojner, and Mary Rose. The new single was written by Eki Alilovski and Mary Rose, with lyrics by Leon Oblak!

The Mary Rose lineup that recorded the new single:
Eki Alilovski – guitar
Sandi Trojner – keyboards
Anže Stegel – bass guitar
Gian Žgur Islami – drums
Miha Horvat – vocals

And here’s a RockLine comment, or mini review, of the new single:
“The new single delivers everything we imagine when we hear the name Mary Rose, especially from the era of the album “Phoenix” (2006) onward! With a modern production, Mary Rose stand tall in new times, showing their hardest side yet. Bristling phrasing, backed by the classic embrace of the thick, chunky sound of Hammond organs, rides on the chassis of a demolishing rhythm stampede. Besides a great musical payoff, crowned by a crescendo in a dramatically theatrical chorus, it brings a grabby groove that fans of heavier sounds won’t be able to shrug off. And there’s also that organic warmth of the lavish production sound, which gives the feeling that the band played the track like a live show in the studio. So Zbudi se carries all the essential trademarks of the Mary Rose sound and style, with which the renewed and refreshed band wakes us up to new times. It’s a herald of the band’s incredible focus and commitment, commanded by a stunning, striking, explosive, and authoritative vocal performance from the band’s new frontman, Miha Horvat. And Eki? The one and only guitar hero! When you hear Zbudi se, you only then truly realize how much his guitar has been missed on the Slovenian rock and metal scene all these years! He hits thunderously, with the unbridled fury of a twenty-year-old! “
