Mi2: The Natur(i) Acoustic Tour Rolls Into Autumn
Mi2 are heading into the fall concert season unplugged, acoustic and totally natural with the Natur(i) tour. With a reworked acoustic repertoire and a whopping 11-piece lineup on stage, they already played in the first half of the year and wowed crowds at Cankarjev dom, Celje Castle, the Žiče Charterhouse, Bogenšperk Castle, Avditorij Portorož and elsewhere. The fall leg will first catch the last heartbeats of the open-air season, under the shelter of castles and old walls, and then the tour moves into the comfort and warmth of hand-picked cultural centers and halls. The first late-summer show is on August 28 in Ajdovščina (the Castra castle walls), followed by Škofja Loka Castle in Škofja Loka (September 5) and Vurberk Castle in Spodnji Duplek (September 12), then shows in Slovenj Gradec (October 2), Idrija (October 17) and at Kulturni dom Krško (November 20).
With the Natur(i) tour, Mi2 put their music in a whole new light: the songs we all know sound different this time, even though they still feel close, homey and familiar. Mi2 have enriched them with percussion and a mini brass orchestra – saxophone(s), trombone, trumpet and flugelhorn are instruments we’ve never heard live with Mi2 before. With acoustic accompaniment the lyrics gain new depth, Kregar and Dirnbek’s delivery is even more personal, and the arrangements surprise with details – from piano and guitar interludes to unexpected sounds. While Jernej Dirnbek – Dimek also picks up the accordion, Tone Kregar often seeks out contact with the crowd by heading right into the audience.
At the Natur(i) shows, Mi2 know how to conjure up that authentic, different kind of concert experience, even though acoustic music is nothing new for them. At the same time, the songs that all of Slovenia knows keep that special charm that made us fall in love with them in the first place. Whether they’re the band’s biggest hits or the ones that have often been unfairly left in the background and get to shine this time.
