Ogenj present their new single and video “Domovinska” – a powerful, emotional song about love for the homeland, belonging, and the values of home that stay etched into your identity for good.
“Domovinska” brings the band’s signature energy: a mix of raw emotion, infectious rhythm and honest expression, plus the cheerfulness that has marked their music and stage presence for years. Through the song and the accompanying video, directed by Dinko Šimac, the band members come across exactly as they are – spontaneous, cheerful, always ready to hit the road and do even more to bring their music and message closer to the audience, the band says, adding: “We wanted to show our sincere, fiery love for our homeland and our corner of the world, just like a line from our first album says in the title track ‘Domaj’: ‘It’s nice to be elsewhere, but home is best!’”

The band stresses that writing the single was an extremely spontaneous, no-pressure process, and you can feel it in the very vibe of the song.
“We didn’t spend long hunting for a direction or overcomplicating the song – we found what we wanted to say really fast. After an intense, jam-packed 2025, we were all rested and welcomed spring full of fresh energy. It felt like we woke up again together with nature. As always, we tried to give the song an extra touch of arrangement and emotion, because we want to give the audience the maximum with every verse and every note.
A gorgeous Saturday morning was made for capturing it on camera. We had everything ready and everything went according to plan – beautiful blooming rapeseed, leafy trees, the winding Drava and the calm Šoderica with a light breeze,” the band said.
The video for “Domovinska”, signed by Dinko Šimac of Beyond Pines Films, is a visual celebration of the beauty of the Podravina region. The focus is on lush spring landscapes, nature in full glory, and a vibe of togetherness, freedom and movement.
“We wanted to put the colorful Podravina landscapes front and center and place the band in that space as part of it. We imagined the whole thing as a kind of celebration of our region’s beauty, told through a road trip with cars and all sorts of vehicles. The shoot was incredibly relaxed, playful and full of fun, and I believe that energy comes through clearly in the final video,” said director Dinko Šimac.
“Domovinska” once again proves the authenticity of Ogenj and their ability to channel powerful emotion, the energy of togetherness and a deep bond with the region they come from through a modern folk-punk sound.
The lyrics to “Domovinska” were written by Tomislav Mihac Kovačić, while the music was created together by the members of Ogenj – Andrija Bricelj, Benjamin Fabić, Leonard Ivačić, Neven Žnidar, Petar Šimčić and Tomislav Mihac Kovačić. The song also gets its distinctive sonic signature from electronic break elements by Homer Sickson, whom the band already worked with successfully on the remix of “Daj, daj”.
Sound recording was handled by Benjamin Fabić, while mixing and mastering were done by Matej Zec at G.I.S. Studio. Homer Sickson took care of the effects in collaboration with HS Studio, and the video for the song was directed by Dinko Šimac.
