Opća Opasnost are a Croatian hard rock band that has been around since way back in 1992, formed in the town of Županja. After a solid decade-long break between 1997 and 2008, the band fully reactivated, and they’ve been going strong ever since with an unchanged sextet lineup: Pero Galić (vocals), Slaven Živanović (guitar), Igor Kolić (bass), Vlado Soljačić  (guitar), Josip Kamenski (drums) and Branimir Jovanovac on keyboards.

Funny thing is, the band only made its debut on Slovenian stages in 2011, with a gig in Brežice. But the years roll on, and the group, who put out a new studio album in 2014 called »Rocker… to sam ja!«, finally made it all the way to the Slovenian capital, Ljubljana, despite the »quirky« situation at the border between the two countries right now, with three-hour waits at Obrežje to get across.

For a measly hundred souls hungry for their music, the band put on an exceptionally good show that ran an hour and three quarters, both encores included. The crowd was a bit smaller than you’d expect, but incredibly into it and clearly well versed in the band. Up front, mostly girls, who knew every line cold and completely melted into the music. Commanding the stage on vocals (newly and neatly trimmed, looking sharp) is Pero Galić, a man many of you probably know from his days singing with a much more notorious name from the former Yu-rock scene, Divljih Jagodah of course. Around him is a crew of battle-hardened comrades who work a stage like the ground floor of Orto bar with serious dynamics and skill. You had nothing to complain about as the band, backed by routine, confidence and experience, strolled through a rock-solid repertoire that also included newer songs from the current studio album and from »Vrati se na svjetlo« (2011).

Great sound, great lights, great energy. Pero was a little off on vocals a few times, but otherwise the band can boast plenty of tightness and a convincing delivery of the tracks they rattled off one after another at Orto bar. Croatian hard rock. In its classic melos form. Opća opasnost would fit perfectly as a support act for the likes of Parni Valjak and so on… since they cultivate songs sung in Croatian, backed by that recognizable melos, the way it’s cooked up south of the Kolpa, which a good part of the crowd over here is already pretty much traditionally used to and attached to. All in all, a nice show.
