Paul Gilbert Unveils Video and Single “Turn Not Your Back (To Others)”
Paul Gilbert, the indestructible guitar wizard, chameleon and virtuoso without equal, dropped a new studio album, “WROC”, on February 27 via Music Theories Recordings.
Below you’ll find the new video for the single Turn Not Your Back (To Others), taken from the freshly released album.
Also below are the other singles that came out during the promo run for the new album: Speak Not Evil Of The Absent, Let Thy Carriage, Keep Your Feet Firm And Even, Conscience Is The Most Certain Judge, Go Not Thither, If You Soak Bread In The Sauce and Show Not Yourself Glad (At The Misfortune Of Another).
Joining Paul in the studio for this single:
Doug Rappoport (guitar)
Timmer Blakely (bass)
Nick D’Virgilio (drums)
“WROC” stands for “Washington’s Rules Of Civility” (roughly “Washington’s Rules of Politeness” in translation (?), editor’s note), and, believe it or not, it may be the strangest record yet from the guitar superstar. Gilbert used George Washington’s famous code of conduct as the album’s conceptual thread, daring to think outside the box in the process. His main source of inspiration was a late 16th-century manual of good manners.
WROC is a vocal album, the first Gilbert has put out since 2016’s “I Can Destroy”. This time there’s less drilling with supersonic tremolo and less of the slide work he used to coax Ronnie James Dio’s voice out of the guitar, but it’s definitely a record on which Gilbert keeps pushing his unstoppable, one-of-a-kind musical adventurism even further.
You can already order the album “WROC”.
