Ram, the Swedish heavy metallers, will release their new album »Against« on October 9, 2026, via Metal Blade Records – the band’s first studio album in almost seven years.
The first single from the album, Ghost Emperor, is available below. According to vocalist Oscar Carlquist, the song digs into the hidden power structures that control society from behind the scenes.
Following 2019’s »The Throne Within«, »Against« strikes a fiercely rebellious pose, focusing on revolt, nonconformity, and that feeling of being shoved by the system and the masses following it into doing things that go way beyond any reasonable limit.
The album title reflects Ram’s longtime devotion to heavy metal as the most merciless version of sonic terror.
Musically, the band looked back to the classic sounds of cult acts like Dio, MSG, and Sweet, going for an honest, direct, and organic production and ditching all the polishing and sanding of the recordings that modern production demands. The album was recorded at Recordia studio in Varberg, Sweden, with longtime collaborator Johan Reiven handling production.
