The Darkness, those cheeky English rockers, have released a new single called Masters of the Universe.
Masters Of The Universe has been picked as the opening theme of this year’s long-awaited He-Man movie “Masters of the Universe,” which already had its premiere earlier this week at Hollywood’s TCL Chinese Theatre.
“When He-Man asked if we could record music for his upcoming biopic Masters of the Universe, we dusted off our aprons, gathered in the courtyard of Darkness Castle and shouted in unison WE HAVE THE POWER,” The Darkness say, bristling with black humor, and add: “Oh, and Brian May was there too.”
The new single was written by Justin and Dan Hawkins. The two also handled production and mixing, with help from Daniel Pemberton, who’s otherwise best known as a film composer.
The aforementioned Bryan May contributed a guitar solo to the track Eternia.
The cast of “Masters Of The Universe” includes English actor Nicholas Galitzine as Adam Glenn/He-Man, while 30 Seconds To Mars frontman Jared Leto takes on the villain Skeletor. Idris Elba is in there too, playing Man-at-Arms. The movie hits theaters on June 5.
