Varras, the neo-classical metal project fronted by Greek multi-instrumentalist and musical visionary Costas Varras, will release its new studio album “Electric Stardom” on physical formats on May 29, 2026. The album actually came out a while back, but digital-only via Lion Music, and it’s already won over music critics.
The CD version of “Electric Stardom” is available for pre-order now.
Check out the single Lonely Dreamer below, complete with an official lyric video and featuring celebrated Swedish vocalist Goran Edman on vocals. Over the years, Edman has worked with the likes of Yngwie Malmsteen, John Norum, Brazen Abbot, Time Requiem and Madison, among others.
All the tracks on the album are sung by two former Malmsteen vocalists. The first is Edman himself, the second is American singer Mark Boals (Yngwie Malmsteen and Ring of Fire, among others). Keyboardist Bob Katsionis (Firewind, ex-Serious Black) is also back in the fold with Varras.
The album was recorded, mixed and mastered by Leonidas Petropoulos at Anaconda Studio. Costas Varras and Leonidas Petropoulos handled the production.
Costas Varras founded his first band, Perpetual, in 1999. In 2004, Perpetual put out one of the most important albums on the Greek neo-classical metal scene: “Overlord’s Perpetual”. In 2006, Costas Varras moved to Hollywood, California, and in 2008 he graduated from the Musicians Institute and started a new band in Los Angeles. In 2009 he traveled to Kent, England, to record an album with Chris Tsangarides, but sadly that album was never released. In 2017, he and Bob Katsionis recorded the album “Neon-Classical”, which came out in 2018 under the name Costas Varras. In 2020 came the standalone single Rock You Hard, with vocals by Mark Boals.
