We’ve Got It! The Full šMENT Lineup Is Here
A good 100 days before MENT, we’re meeting up in Šiška for šMENT – a mini-festival for everyone who can’t wait until February.
One Friday, two stages and 5 bands await.
That corto.alto, a Scottish wunderkind at the crossroads of new-school groovy jazz, hip-hop
and electronica, is coming to Slovenia for the first time with a fresh record out on Ninja Tune – you already know.
That Nejc Pipp & Co. are opening the night with a bunch of premieres from their upcoming album – you know that too.
That Svemirko is finally coming back to Šiška to crown the night with sweet regional nostalgia of synthpop and dancey indie – you’ve heard that already.
But here’s what we’re announcing publicly for the first time: Zina will be presenting her emotionally charged singer-songwriter debut Queen of Hearts in Šiška with her band, and, cherry on top, we’re looking forward to one of the first public gigs by IDZ – a pocket-sized post-punk outfit that tackles the critique of urban architecture in a strikingly fun way.
TICKETS are still available.
ZINA
Zina Ban is a young singer-songwriter from Istria and a sensitive soul with a strong stage presence. Her music drifts between intimate folk and indie currents, and her guiding star, her North Star, is rawness. With her music she wants to let people closer into her inner world and offer a glimpse of how she processes life. With honest lyrics and emotional vocals, she aims to leave no one indifferent. Zina says that to love is to live and that it’s always worth betting on love. Her brand-new debut Queen of Hearts, a collection of songs about different forms of love, reflects that beautifully. At šMENT she’ll play it live with a five-piece band.
IDZ
A critique of urban architecture, packed into pocket-sized post-punk! IDZ is a precocious young urban-planning-meets-music trio that plays at openings of local playgrounds, public displays of spatial plans and in construction pits. With a direct, at times noisy post-punk sound, they dig into the topics we talk about on the street and on the bus: where will we park today and where will we sleep tomorrow? Why are so many people driving around alone in their cars? And when will we finally be able to swim in the Ljubljanica?
