Withered Petunia, Finnish modern melodic metallers, have released a new double single, “Torn Pages”. On it, the band keeps stretching its sound with plenty of experimentation, mixing elements of death metal with melodic metal and touches of hardcore.
The new single is a two-part track that tackles drug addiction in modern society. The first part, “Page 1: The Craving”, looks at the subject from the outside and is critical of the addict, while the second part, “Page 2: The Needle”, explores the addict’s own view of the state their life is in, and of society’s unwillingness to step in and help.
The instrumental parts follow the story of the two-part single. The first is aggressive and chaotic, reflecting how this “forbidden topic” gets discussed at the societal level. The second is darker and more melancholic, depicting the addict’s personal emotions.
The single Torn Pages is already available on all the major digital platforms!
Withered Petunia put out their first EP, “Withered Petunia”, in January 2025, followed by the single “Fragility of a Mind” in September 2025. That makes “Torn Pages” the band’s third official studio release.
