Swedish melodic death metal pioneers At The Gates have announced their new album, “The Ghost Of A Future Dead”, which lands on April 24 via Century Media Records.
The record follows its predecessor “The Nightmare Of Being” from 2021 and is dedicated to frontman Tomas Lindberg, who tragically passed away in September 2025.
“The Ghost Of A Future Dead” was recorded and mixed by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios in Örebro, Sweden, with the artwork handled by Robert Samsonowitz (www.rbrt.org).
Here’s what At The Gates had to say about The Ghost Of A Future Dead:
“We’re proud to share the news about our eighth studio album, “The Ghost Of A Future Dead”. It will be released on April 24, 2026, more than two years after it was actually finished in the studio.
As you all know, Tomas Lindberg passed away last year due to complications from cancer treatment. Over the past few years we worked closely with Tomas, going over and fine-tuning every last detail so that nothing was left to chance.
In line with Tomas’ wishes – including the album title, the sound mix, the track order, the artwork and the overall presentation – “The Ghost Of A Future Dead” stays true to our vision. It brings together the wild energy and the powerful, punchy melodies that are the essence of At The Gates. This album is Tomas’ legacy.”
Below you can check out the first single and video for the album track The Fever Mask. The video was directed by Patric Ullaeus.
