On December 26, 2025, we played a sold-out show in Gallusova dvorana at Cankarjev dom as Janez Dovč & Sounds of Slovenia, under the title Zemlja, iz tebe se dotikam vsega. I’m happy we got this truly special night on tape, too. You can watch the video of the concert in the RTV Slovenija Archive, and now we’re presenting the audio recording as a brand-new live album.
Honestly, and with a lot of gratitude to everyone involved, I can say I’m truly proud of this album. A great deal of exploring, thinking and composing went into it, and above all the shared music-making of an outstanding collective of musicians and singers. On the album you’ll hear live versions of songs from the album Sozvočja (Celinka.si), as well as several completely new songs that are officially released for the first time. I’d especially highlight the settings of Lili Novy’s poetry performed by Laura Krajnc, and the song Deček na drevesu by Edvard Kocbek, as interpreted by Žigan Krajnčan.
Folk music is a memory from ancient times, an echo of a place that carries within it the diversity of Slovenia’s regions, language and dialects, while the original song is the “spring of the spirit” of our age, tying that diversity together. It means stepping into the archetypal mood of the folk song with the sharpness of the author’s word, so that with a sharpened ear we can deepen the atmosphere even further. Earth, love, peace, silence, nature. “How simple man is in nature, like a bird gliding far too quietly above us,” Srečko Kosovel knew, and this is his year. We live in a time when it’s crucial to reconnect not just the new with the old, but also civilization with nature. And we can only do that through deep contact with our own culture and in harmony with the varied experiences of other cultures, which stand for centuries of nurturing a bond with nature in diverse yet very real corners of the world.
On this weary earth, let’s stop escalating. Let’s sharpen our senses and tune ourselves together with it, for hope, peace and love …
