A very symbolic 9 months have passed since Drinkers’ last show at Orto Bar and the birth of RockLine. RockLine is taking the lead on the Slovenian scene, and in those nine months Drinkers have put together almost a whole new album. In short, things are happening for both of us.

Most of the crowd was already a little tipsy by the time the youngsters playing as PAIN IN THE ASS took the stage. These guys play honest punk and really don’t let anyone push them around. Of course they can’t dodge the rookie mistakes, but so what! What matters is that they’ve got the drive and the energy, and the know-how comes with the years.

By the time Drinkers stormed the stage, the people were already happily fortified with the obligatory brewskis, and the drink’n’roll party could really kick off. In fifth gear, and it stayed there for the entire show. The band and the fans alike. Since the last gig, Maki has definitely gained the most in the band. The guy never lacked confidence, but his vocals have come a long way, not to mention a few beer kilos. And despite those extra kilos, the ladies still “go crazy” for him. Hats off! You can tell the rest of the band is fired up to the max too. A few shows and a great response from the crowd in the famous little country south of the Kolpa gave them an extra shot of confidence. A few of the most loyal and fired-up female fans also joined the Merry Drinkers on stage a few times to “help” Maki sing a tune or two. The guys slotted two legendary songs by the legendary NIET into their standard drinking repertoire, the band where guitarist Robert Likar used to play, plus two brand-new originals, Hura and Stari Mož, which will find their place on the next Drinkers album, coming out in the spring of next year.

The Alcoholics thus delighted the people of the capital for the second time this year, a city that badly lacks this kind of fun, boozy rock’n’roll party. Turbo accordion and similar crap that “thrives” on Slovenian soil today? Drinkers, with their pure-blooded boozer rock, blow it away in two hours flat, straight to where such trash belongs: the dumpster of inglorious history. The one and only true religion is, after all, ROCK RELIGION. And cheers…
