Electro Spectacle: Kraftwerk in Belgrade on July 19!
Electronic sound pioneers Kraftwerk will play Luka Beograd – Open Air Corner on July 19, where production house Long Play is putting together a huge show. The legendary German outfit is coming back to the Serbian capital after eight years.
Blending electronic music, computer animation, and performance, Kraftwerk concerts have been a multilayered work of art for decades. The multimedia project Kraftwerk was founded in 1970 by Ralf Hütter and Florian Schneider. In Düsseldorf they built the Kling Klang studio, where they designed and produced all of the band’s albums.
In the mid-1970s, Kraftwerk won international acclaim thanks to their revolutionary electronic soundscapes and their experiments with robotics and other technological innovations. With their visions of the future, they laid down the sonic foundation for the digital age of the 21st century.
Their tracks, built on innovative techniques, synthetic voices, and computer-generated rhythms, have had a huge influence on countless genres around the world – from electro and hip-hop to techno and synth-pop. Their biggest hit, “The Model” from 1978, is considered one of the most important and influential songs in the history of not just electronic music, but popular music as a whole.
With a retrospective of their entire catalog at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York in 2012, Kraftwerk made a symbolic return in recent years to their artistic roots, the Düsseldorf art scene of the late sixties. The series of 3D concerts at MoMA was followed by shows at Tate Modern – Turbine Hall (London), Akasaka Blitz (Tokyo), the Sydney Opera House, Walt Disney Concert Hall (Los Angeles), Fondation Louis Vuitton (Paris), Neue Nationalgalerie (Berlin), and the Guggenheim Museum (Bilbao).
In 2014, Ralf Hütter and Florian Schneider (who passed away in 2020) received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, and in October 2021 Kraftwerk were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Tickets for the Kraftwerk show at Luka Beograd on July 19 go on presale Tuesday, January 27, at 10 a.m. General sale kicks off Wednesday at 10 a.m. through the Tickets service.
