Imperij – “Ni meja”: New Single and Video Out Now
When closeness meets honesty, even the sky stops being a limit
The new single and video “Ni meja” are out, and with them Imperij once again confirm their recognizable musical and lyrical identity: honest, sensual and full of light at the same time. It’s a track about relationships, life stories and those moments that fill us with the feeling that anything is possible.
The song once again comes from David Stritar, whose lyrics and music give Imperij a clear authorial line, the red thread that makes the band instantly recognizable. Once again his style blends intimacy with optimism and an everyday realism that leaves a mark. The sound was polished at Beartracks studio, with mixing and mastering by Robert Bulešič, and the result is mature, warm and modern.
Imperij – Julij Klemenc, Nejc Dolinar and Jure Erpič – stay true to the idea that songs are a space of freedom, where emotions have no limits. “Ni meja” isn’t a song about endings but about new beginnings, about the closeness that opens up space, and about the laughter that beats the weight of the days again and again.
Imperij on the song:
“Ni meja” is another song that works as a kind of musical storytelling flow of feelings. Lyrically, it deals with the balance between the worries and troubles of everyday life and the things on the other side: a safe harbor, meaning, the light at the end of the tunnel, a source of energy and moments of happiness.
The track kicks off with a strong rhythm and a bass line that already embodies an inner struggle. The verses are minimalist, backed by a foundation that feels tense and uneasy until the chorus. The choruses, on the other hand, act as the positive side of life, its justification and happiness.
They close with the line ‘Nebo ni meja, mejá’, a play on words between the nominative singular and the genitive plural, which adds a little twist to the classic poetic device of repetition.”
The video gives the song an extra lift and sets it visually in a world where the small moments count the most. Together with the music, it creates a feeling of lightness, warmth and hope, the kind you want to pass on.
