Mariusz Duda, bassist, guitarist, lead composer and visionary of Polish progressive metallers Riverside, has decided to leave the band after 25 years.

In an official statement, which you can read in full below, Mariusz cites several reasons for his exit, among them the toxic relations between the members of the current lineup. That’s been going on for a long time, and he drew on it in the lyrics of the latest solo studio album “The World Under Unsun”, while the Lunatic Soul song The New End is even dedicated to saying goodbye to Riverside fans.

From now on, Mariusz will focus on his project Lunatic Soul, as well as devote himself to other musical challenges.

He adds that when it comes to Riverside, he sees no point in the band carrying on, since right now he can’t see anyone at all who could replace him.
