Being superstitious on Friday the 13th is a matter of judgment, but being at the release party for the third album “The Days That Follow …” by Celje’s Multiball is an obligation. And it’s a sin if you missed it, because the RSQ magazine crew had been promising an unforgettable party for months. True, most of the crowd didn’t know the newest songs, since the album came out on this very day together with the RSQ issue, but the night was shaping up in the right direction. Even though things didn’t look great at first, with only a handful of people in Ljubljana’s Sub Sub club around ten p.m., the place filled up nicely within a good half hour.

A little before eleven, it got real. The first guitars roared and announced the opening track from the newest studio effort, with Matej Gobec diligently working the knobs on the mixing desk. “The News” to open, “Still on the Run” to follow. The brakes that had kept the crowd in a vise slowly started to loosen. Sometimes it takes so little to get a crowd going. The first single “Thin Rope” from the album that this whole night revolves around gave the audience an extra push. A video for that song dropped just a few days ago, made together with director Miloš Radosavljević and director of photography Miloš Grdić. The new album also includes “A Way Out”, “Razorblade” and “27”. Even though most of the crowd hadn’t heard these songs yet, they gave in to the good vibes and moved to the rhythms Multiball served up so well that night. The run of new tracks was capped off by “Veliki Mike” (aka “Mike the Great”). The party rolled on with “When I`m Done” from the album “Endless Journey” (2006). But that was the only older track for now. Then it was back to the fresh stuff. There was also one of the best ones, “There She Stands”, and “Emperor”. “The Days That Follow” was almost spun to the end, so it was time for the good old tunes. “Today or Tomorrow” (“At Last!”, 2004) to start. That debut album also holds “Intro (Multiball hits your town)”. And boy, did the guys rock the scene that year. They were even tagged as the new-age Sex Pistols. The party, fueled by “Absent”, went up a notch or two. “Ladies Room” and “At Last!” (both from “At Last!”, 2004) added extra fuel. And since the rule is that the best always comes last, “Friday Night Anthem” was finally here. The guys closed out their set with the very fresh, still-hot “Flashing Lights”. It started with the new album, it ended with the new album.

Multiball got the premiere presentation of “The Days That Follow …” safely under their belt. But their show wasn’t special just for that. Their new bassist Miha Zagozda played with them for the first time, and he had to take in seven years of the other members’ creating and gigging in just over a month. Sure, that looks like a huge mouthful at first glance, but it seems Miha handled it just fine. Keep it up, guys!
