When Zablujena generacija admitted at the end of last January that they’re old farts (“stare pizde”) and put out their sixth studio album under the same title, nobody could have imagined that a year later, on February 12, they’d be back on the floor of Ljubljana’s Orto bar, having earned a golden “pirate” record for that very album, for more than three thousand copies illegally downloaded from the internet. Even though the Zablujenci offered everyone with a pirated copy a swap for the original, only a handful actually took them up on it. Don’t look a gift horse in the mouth?!? Nor should we forget that the tickets, which were supposed to go on sale at 9 PM on the day of the show, sold out in just a few minutes, so quite a few people left Orto with their tails between their legs.

With CD sales having dropped sharply lately and most people grabbing albums off the web onto their computers, the folks at the Panker studio label took things a step further. They introduced the so-called golden “pirate” record as the successor to the classic gold record that labels used to hand out to musicians. Zablujena generacija were thus the first recipients of the award, and since the guys play for the love of it, it was handed over to them by Dušan from the studio.

Sadly, hardly anyone listened to his speech, since the assembled mob of rebels was impatiently waiting for the show to start. The must-have tracks from every gig, like “Pobegli vlak”, “Upornika brez razloga”, “Egotrip”, “Totaln debil”, “Extrasupermegafakinnujno”, “Moja liza”, “Razdalja”, “Sonce nabija”, “Patricija”, “Pozitiv vabrejšan”, “Mokre sanje”, “Superboy”, “Kdo hoče plesati z menoj?” and a cover of the bar-rock “Metulj”, were joined by a few rarely heard ones: “Vse kar rabm”, “090” and “Tu mač”. As the cherry on top, they spiced up the set with a few songs that almost never get played, among them “Bodi ti (to kar si)”, “Mi smo stare pizde” and “Gremo drugam”. The old hits undoubtedly reap the reputation they built, and the youngsters confirmed it once again. Total madness at its peak and Orto’s floor shaking, comparable to a five on the Richter scale, raising the question: “Will our beloved little Orto survive this kind of beating?” The visibly exhausted crowd still got a chance to catch its breath during those almost-never-played songs, where you could tell most people barely knew them, or didn’t know them at all.

And since the Zablujenci aren’t cut from the cloth of an “artificially made band”, they “treated themselves” to a few mistakes during the show. Ramon was the first to miss the mark, fumbling a riff during “Razdalja”, and Primož followed soon after. But you can’t really blame the guys. The only real “slip-up” you could count against them was kicking off “Sonce nabija” with a song for those who haven’t yet developed a sense for good, quality music, or for those who never developed it at all. I’m talking about “Mi gremo pa na morje”, performed by Čuki. Good thing the contents of my stomach stayed where they belong.

Even though the Zablujenci admitted a year ago that they’re old farts, they pulled off another excellent show, an hour and forty minutes long. Things were happening for the band and the crowd alike, old and young. The gloom that had been hanging over the place was swapped, as if someone had hit a “switch off”, for livelier colors, and the night carried on with the traditional “80`s” party.
