Oakenthrone unveil video and single “A Vigil Under Sol”
Oakenthrone, the British atmospheric black metal outfit, have dropped a music video for A Vigil Under Sol, the second single from their upcoming debut “Ad Silvam”, out November 27 on Vendetta Records.
The video for the new single was once again directed by Smara Kand, who also helmed the video for the single Ember of Reveries.
The new single follows its predecessor, Monolith (below).
The album »Ad Silvam« was written by Simon Nagington over a 12-month stretch, with the rest of the band chipping in too. Oakenthrone recorded it themselves, while Sam Turbitt handled the mixing and mastering at Ritual studio in the spring of 2026.
The album cover is an original oil painting created for the record by Simon Chognot.
Oakenthrone started out as a solo project, with the story kicking off in 2022. The project quickly turned heads, selling out the tapes »Embers of Reverie« (2024) and »Astral Binding & The Oathsworn« (2025) in no time, which sent Oakenthrone to the top of Bandcamp’s UK Black Metal page.
In 2025 the project grew into a four-piece live band, with Nathan Caven (ex-Sathamel), Andrew Hunt (ex-Pist) and Ant Hurlock (ex-Mairu) joining the ranks. What followed was an exclusive festival-only split tape with dungeon synth scene mainstays Gate Master, plus the release of the album »Paths Once Trodden (2024–2025)« on Darkwoods Records. Then in March 2026 came the breakthrough moment, when Oakenthrone joined Saor on the UK leg of their »Amidst the Ruins« tour.
