You’d wish it weren’t true, but it is. Despite all the good faith and good wishes shown in the earlier back-and-forth between the band and our beloved webzine, this happens too. You get shoved into a spot where you have to squeeze a few bitter drops of ink out of the fountain pen. I don’t mean to excuse the act, but I regret it and hope it goes differently next time.
Even after the release of their second studio “full-length” Razlike, Zgrešeni primeri still belong to that wave of younger-generation Slovenian bands trying to play the card of mockery, rebelliousness, shock therapy for the watching sheep, disobedience toward the rules laid down by Big Brother,… They also love to brag about cheekily snooping under girls’ skirts and running around with hard crotch-level boners. Heh, maybe it’s just starting to swell. That comes with growing up. A wave of bands like Pain In The Ass, Nove konzerve, Banditi,… and then there’s Zgrešeni primeri too.
The band’s likely answer: “We’re not weighed down by that!” sadly doesn’t cut it these days. Bands unburdened like that are a dime a dozen, like weeds. You have to bring recognizable charisma and a songwriting identity. The album “Razlike” shows proof of talented songwriting, but you miss a more tangible personal voice. In the genre Zgrešeni primeri operate in, it’s almost unfair to demand that from a band. And yet. There are plenty of similar bands in Slovenia, and elsewhere too. In the cheerfully crafted tunes of carefree “raging”, it’s not hard to conjure up some associations pointing to the fact that the guys’ teenage tutors were Green Day. And again, the use of street-gang chants recalls something that the much older Slovenian The Drinkers have been leaning on for a long time.
