The golden mean turned out to be a hellish one this time, because Tolmin got probably one of the worst heat waves of the summer. But the most beautiful festival site in the world has the Soča to cool down overheated heads, loads of side…

“Distance Over Time” is once again a more listenable moment in Dream Theater's career. No artistic progress, then. But in everything it embodies, it's a Dream Theater album from head to toe. And of course, a very good Dream Theater album.…

»The Astonishing« is without doubt yet another Dream Theater album that will split the fanbase: some will 'rave it to the stars' for its incredibly rich, orchestra-enhanced, complex sound with a few brilliant moments, while others will…

By Tuesday morning, with everyone shuffling around slowly and gasping for water, Metaldays already looked like Romero's Day of the Dead, while the main stage served up probably the biggest names of this year's festival - Zakk Wylde's…

»Falling into Infinity« is probably the most overlooked album in Dream Theater's discography to date. It actually ranks among the best things they've done, even if it asks for a bit more time and genre open-mindedness.

" The prog giants keep marching on, come what may, and we're left with one more fond memory and the wait for the next tour. "

"Whenever Dream Theater play, it's a blast to see so many slack-jawed faces on the faces of the music doctors, who just can't get over the boundless technical know-how of four champions of their instruments"

Dream Theater lived up to their name at Tuesday's gig in Hala Tivoli, flooding our ears and eyes with a flawless show.

Dream Theater once again proved they're a first-class live attraction for every music gourmet who prizes top-tier technical chops, a refusal to chase current sonic trends and the richest arrangement variety possible, so during their 'walk…

Jordan Rudess took a few minutes out for a phone call on January 31, 2014, right in the middle of Paris on Dream Theater's new tour. He told us about the band's new album »Dream Theater« (2013) and the chemistry in the group, and he opened…

Strip away the influences of eighteenth- and nineteenth-century classical music and the early twentieth, and the roots of progressive rock reach back to the first half of the sixties, to what is now the United Kingdom.

This is a album of true (!!!) Dream Theater art aesthetics. Properly weighted between complexity and melodic accessibility. Finally! The brilliance that's been getting harder and harder to find in Dream Theater since 1999 is back.

Dream Theater are a complexly compact but far from soulless machine, striding confidently into a new decade of musical life. The show on the stage of the Pordenone arena was the perfect proof of that.

A Dramatic Turn Of Events introduces new drummer Mike Mangini, who steps in for founding member and one of the band's main driving forces, Mike Portnoy. But the shake-up isn't nearly as rough as it sounds.

Black Clouds And Silver Linings is an album with no standout moments. More restrained than its predecessor Systematic Chaos. Just a good album. The lack of inspiration is once again hiding behind solo escapades. Exhausting.
