Escape Music will reissue the studio debut of cult British AOR outfit Atlantic, “Power”, on 8/21/2026. “Power” originally came out in 1994.
The freshly remastered album (remastered by Steve Newman, who also fronts his own band, Newman) comes with updated cover art and is limited to just 300 vinyl copies worldwide. The gold vinyl will be numbered, with each 180-gram audiophile copy carrying its own number (from 1 to 300). The album will also get a limited-edition reissue on CD.
Atlantic, AOR legends of the British Isles, started out as the brainchild of guitarist and songwriter Simon Harrison.
After years of making a name for himself writing songs for other artists and playing in bands like Stranger, among others, Harrison wanted to make an album dedicated to his favorite genre: AOR.
Inspired by the look and sound of Whitesnake, Journey, Bad English, FM, Heartland and Dare, he set about writing the songs that made up the first album by Altantic, “Power”.
“Power” first came out on CD in 1994 on Music For Nations, then was reissued in 2008 on Escape Music (ESM176). The release stirred up a lot of interest for Atlantic, since the quality easily puts it shoulder to shoulder with bands like Heartland, Dare and Shy (the late Tony Mills, vocalist of Shy and TNT, guests on “Power” too!).
Alongside Simon Harrison on guitar and keyboards, the excellent Phil Bates
(Trickster/Quill) signed on for this album, contributing lead vocals, guitars and keyboards.
Sadly, despite its tremendous potential, the album didn’t catch enough attention. Atlantic then split up.
The band returned in 2024 with a great new album, “Another World”, also released on Escape Music (catalog no.: ESM388).
