Two years after their 2007 debut, local porngrind heavyweights Vulvathrone have finally managed to refill their sacks after Bukkake šus. Time for another round of jizz, which gets sprayed all over the place across the eleven tracks of the new album. If you locked Vulvathrone in a brothel full of ladies of the night, there’d be very little left of those ladies, and the result would be something like what the 37 minutes of Passion of Perversity sing about.
This time the product is in many ways more thought-out than the debut, the songs are better, and the dirty death/grind is a lot more refined (as far as porngrind can be, anyway). With Passion of Perversity, Vulvathrone have turned into proper fuckmasters, and musically the progress is another notch (or position) higher. Eleven tracks make for one pure storm of uncompromising shot (and fuck) and unbridled speed, but so the foursome doesn’t chafe their bits raw, the guys drop into slower, groovy parts every now and then… to satisfy the ladies too. Well, not really, because the very next moment the ladies are catching it in whatever bodily orifice they fancy. Matko’s drumming makes sure of that, full of colorful transitions and abuse of the skins. It’s nice to hear the guy has read the Kama Sutra and doesn’t just pound out constant oompah polka beats, so worn out in grind, but changes them up often and shifts speed and tempo. Shame the drums are sometimes pretty muddy, or get lost in the storm of riffs. Those, though, are varied and never repeat, so they can satisfy even the most fired-up nymphomaniac. Two vocalists handle the gargling of bodily fluids, which brings the necessary dynamics and variety. The deep, low “squeal piggy” vocals are, as always, taken care of by reliable Herman, while Ozy pumps away with a more classic death metal growl. Between the songs you get short, hu(m)porous samples, which provide a much-needed breather from all the fucking, squealing, moaning and sodomy.
Passion of Perversity is a clear step up from the debut; maybe the production is the only thing left worth improving. But at the end of the day this is porn grind, not a symphony, or rather it’s Slovenian smut, not a Vivid production. Vulvathrone aren’t rocket science, but you’ll have a hard time finding a better sonic fuck. Because Vulvathrone know it’s not all about length, but technique too.
